THE HOURLY RATE FOR THIS POSITION IS $27.32/HR - $31.87/HR

The primary purpose of this position is to install, modify, overhaul, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electronics equipment of moderate complexity or a system of limited complexity.

Responsibilities
  • Installs, modifies, overhauls, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs electronics equipment of moderate complexity or a system of limited complexity.
  • Sets up and operates software controlled automatic test equipment (ATE) to test and troubleshoot various components and assemblies of electronic equipment.
  • Uses and maintains hand tools such as screwdrivers, drills, wrenches, soldering irons, and microsoldering units.
  • Utilizes safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work environment.
  • Documents work assignments through the use of AFTO Form 781 series and Core Automated Maintenance Systems (CAMS) computer terminals.

Qualifications

I am able to perform the most difficult and complex Electronics Mechanic tasks, I have the ability to overhaul, repair, align and troubleshoot such as long-range search radar, repairing equipment or system malfunctions where a good understanding of electrical and electronic circuit theory is required; applying and interpreting technical information from repair manuals, schematics, diagrams, and etc. to plan, layout, setup and perform test and repair of complete electronic systems where the sensitivity of circuits requires careful choice and use of test instruments and procedures to prevent loading the circuits; using electronic test equipment and a variety of hand tools to perform functional tests to determine the extent of repairs required and repair or replace defective components or parts.

To qualify, there is no specific length of training or experience required; however, you must be able to demonstrate enough experience in your application to show you possess sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the position at the level for which applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

The screen out element for this position is the ability to do work of the position without more than normal supervision.

JOB ELEMENTS:Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge of operating electronic principles such as microminiaturized digital and solid state integrated circuits, transistors, diodes, tube circuits, antennas, signal transmission, oscillation, and amplification. 2. Knowledge of electrical and electronic theory. 3. Skill in interpreting and applying a variety of technical information such as technical orders, manufacturers' handbooks and repair manuals, schematics, block diagrams, mathematical expressions. 4. Skill in the use of electronic test equipment such as computer controlled automated test equipment (ATE), oscilloscopes, pulse and signal generators, distortion and waveform analyzers, digital data generators, digital voltmeters, frequency generators, and special test panels. 5. Skill in the use of a variety of hand tools such as screwdrivers, drills, wrenches, soldering irons, and microsoldering units. 6. Ability to troubleshoot and repair malfunctions where circuit theory must be used to understand the operation of individual circuits and the interaction of other circuits to create a malfunction. 7. Ability to perform functional tests on items to determine the extent of repair required, make repairs, and replace defective components and parts. 8. Ability to assist engineers in developing, debugging, or modifying diagnostic programs by identifying and investigating apparent contradictions between test specifications or test requirement documents and test programs. 9. Ability to use computer terminals to maintain records and document actions. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE:Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
