WSP is currently initiating a search for a Senior Project Accountant for our Sacramento office.

The successful candidate will: work independently under general supervision, provide accounting support to the project team and manage the subconsultant financials, ensuring contract compliance, correct and timely invoice submittals and accurate tracking cost of costs against budget.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Read and understand the prime contract and supporting subcontracts, especially with regard to invoicing, payment and other financial contract provisions. Track key performance indicators for the Subconsultants and maintain detailed tracking reports for management.

  • Submit monthly reports to the client.

  • Review and process sub-consultant invoices

  • Establish and maintain sub-consultant purchase orders

  • Coordinate sub payments

  • Develop cost trending analysis and comparisons to the budget.

  • Assist project accounting with invoice preparation.

  • Communicate with subconsultant on short-pay, disallowances and changes to invoice or budget.

  • Ensure appropriate document control procedures are followed.

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience in related field)

  • A minimum of 6 years of relevant experience

  • Must have excellent organizational and communication skills, ability to work with all levels of teams, strong attention to detail, and knowledge of accounting and contracting principles

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and accounting software

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with Oracle

  • Experience with an engineering or construction firm
